How Might These Supplements Support Your Horse?

How might these supplements support your horse?

There are a large variety of horses who may benefit from an added supplement in their diet.

Whether it be for the veteran horse, young horse, performance horse or the everyday leisure horse. Each horse has their own individual needs and it’s our job here at Feedmark to supply you with the right products for your horse or horses!

Please note that it’s always important to ask your vet for advice if you are concerned about your horse’s health.

Best-Flex HA – High specification joint supplement

Does your horse feel stiff or have tired joints? Could your horse benefit from joint support? Would you like to help maintain general joint health? Does your horse participate in high impact disciplines?

If the answer is yes, then Best-Flex HA can offer support by providing high levels of proven joint health ingredients.

Whilst there are a huge range of joint supplements on the market, Best-Flex HA is probably the best joint supplement in the world and contains the highest levels of all the active ingredients. It contains the joint nutraceuticals Glucosamine, Chondroitin sulphate, Hyaluronic acid (HA) and MSM which have been proven by scientific studies to benefit joint function, flexibility and suppleness. We also add Vitamin C, Omega 3 fatty acids and Boswellia for added support of the joints and connective tissues.

Benevit – Multivitamin and mineral balancer

Is your horse deficient in essential micronutrients? Is your horse fed low levels of feed? Are you lacking good quality forage?

Benevit is a great all-round multivitamin and mineral supplement that fulfils your horse’s micronutrient requirements and is ideal for horses and ponies who are receiving under the recommended amounts of hard feed and forage. The presence of minerals can vary depending on location, type of forage and soil content. Some soils may be lacking in Selenium which is thought to support the horse’s immune system, whilst a forage-only diet may not provide sufficient levels of Vitamin E. Not only are these important antioxidants included in the composition of Benevit, but we have also added Omega 3 and 6 which promote a healthy shine to the coat. Benevit is suited to a wide range of horses, but youngstock will also benefit from a vitamin and mineral supplement to support healthy growth and development.

Fly Formula – Natural oral fly deterrent

Is your horse bothered by files and other insects? Sensitive to fly bites? Does your horse’s coat need some extra shine?

There are a variety of ways to protect your horse from flies and insects such as sprays, masks, rugs, avoiding turning out at dawn and dust, regular poo picking and mucking out, and frequent cleaning of water buckets and troughs. Another useful way to maintain regular prevention of these irritants can be to feed an oral supplement.

Garlic is the core ingredient of Fly Formula due to its potent sulphur content. When digested and secreted via the horse’s skin pores, it produces an unpleasant taste for flies discouraging them from landing on and bothering your horse. Fly Formula contains a unique blend of natural herbs; Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, Rosemary, Lemon and Nettle. The combination of these highly palatable herbs, and the scientifically proven live yeast Yea-Sacc, not only deter pesky bugs but can also have positive effects such as soothing the skin, promoting a healthy digestive system and adding shine to your horse’s coat.

Replenish – Electrolyte replacement and isotonic rehydration

Sweating? Dehydrated or lethargic in the hot weather? High workload levels?

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink… well, the level of Sodium “salt” in a horse’s blood will determine how likely it is to drink water! Hydration is incredibly important for all horses, so it is key to provide access to clean water and maintain the horse’s electrolyte balance. Horses who are more susceptible to electrolyte deficiencies include those who have a heavy or intense workload e.g. Endurance horses, those exposed to hot conditions, and those who sweat a lot. On a daily basis, electrolytes are lost through sweating, in urine and in faeces, and deficiencies can cause dehydration, poor performance and can worsen conditions such as azoturia.

Replenish contains a well-balanced blend of all the main electrolytes. These include; Sodium (Na), Chloride (Cl), Potassium (K), Magnesium (Mg) and Calcium (Ca). Not only do electrolytes help keep your horse hydrated but they are also vital for correct nerve and muscle function. To ensure optimum efficiency, Replenish should be fed daily or made into an isotonic solution for rehydration.

Ultimate Ease – Complete gastrointestinal comfort

Does you horse become irritable when girthing-up, grooming or changing their rugs? Do they pass loose droppings? Are they sensitive to diet changes?

A healthy gastrointestinal system in horses is so important for normal digestive functions, maintaining healthy stomach pH levels and hind gut fermentation. In some horses, gastrointestinal wellbeing can be compromised due to a variety of reasons, for example a sudden change in their diet. Stress can also be a factor that has a negative effect on gastrointestinal health. A horse’s stress levels can increase for a number of reasons such as travelling long distances and being in a new environment.

We have carefully selected the ingredients in Ultimate Ease to provide complete gastrointestinal support. Included are both pre- and probiotics to aid a healthy microbiome and thus aid fermentation of dietary fibre; acid buffering agents to sustain natural pH levels in the stomach; and the combination of Magnesium hydroxide and Apple pectin to support and soothe the horse’s gut lining.
