BioPlus™ has been specifically formulated to provide comprehensive support for hindgut health by addressing two critical aspects of digestive wellbeing: the balance of beneficial microorganisms within the microbiome and the integrity of the intestinal lining itself.

Modern management, dietary changes, extended medication use, stress, travel, competition, and periods of digestive upset can alter the delicate balance of the hindgut ecosystem. When beneficial fibre-digesting bacteria decline, undesirable microorganisms can become more dominant, affecting digestive efficiency and leading to the production of substances that may irritate the intestinal lining.

BioPlus™ helps break this cycle through a targeted combination of nutritional ingredients which protect, support, and nourish the digestive system.

A carefully selected blend of prebiotic fibres, including Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), provides nourishment for beneficial gut bacteria, helping to maintain microbial diversity and support efficient fibre digestion.

Postbiotic compounds, including short-chain fatty acid sources such as Butyrate, help nourish the cells lining the digestive tract while supporting a healthy inflammatory response and optimal gut function.

Glutamine and L-Threonine have been included to support the structure and function of the intestinal barrier. Glutamine provides nutritional support for intestinal epithelial cells and the tight junctions between them, whilst L-Threonine contributes to the production of the protective mucus layer lining the gut wall.

To provide additional digestive protection, BioPlus™ also contains Beta-Glucans and Mycosorb A+, helping to bind feed-borne mycotoxins that may negatively affect digestive function and overall wellbeing.

Unlike probiotic supplements designed for horses with an already healthy hindgut environment, BioPlus™ focuses on supporting gut recovery, comfort, and intestinal integrity, making it particularly suitable during periods of stress, dietary transition, medication use, or following digestive disruption.

1 scoop (50ml) of BioPlus™ weighs approximately 35g.

Feed the recommended level, or as recommended by your veterinary surgeon.

BioPlus™ may be fed alongside medication (including ulcer medication) and throughout periods of dietary change, travel, competition, stress, or recovery.

For horses recovering from long-term medication use, continued feeding for a minimum of three months is recommended.

Feed supplements should be fed according to body weight. Introduce gradually and split between feeds where appropriate.

What's the difference between BioPlus™ and BioPro™?

BioPro™ is designed for horses with a healthy digestive system that need everyday microbiome support through live yeast and prebiotics. BioPlus™ is formulated for horses whose digestive health may already be compromised through medication, stress, dietary changes, digestive upset, or poor performance. It supports both the microbiome and the gut lining itself.

Can BioPlus™ be fed alongside medication?

Yes. BioPlus™ has been designed to be fed safely alongside veterinary-prescribed medications, including long-term treatments and treatments for gastric ulcers. Unlike some digestive supplements, it does not need to be fed separately from medication.

Why doesn't BioPlus™ contain probiotics?

BioPlus™ focuses on supporting the hindgut lining and microbiome balance using prebiotics, postbiotics, amino acids, and mycotoxin binders. This approach is particularly beneficial when the gut lining may already be compromised, helping to support recovery and digestive comfort.

How long should I feed BioPlus™ for?

For horses recovering from digestive challenges, stress, medication, or dietary change, feeding for a minimum of three months is recommended. Many owners choose to continue feeding long term to support ongoing digestive health.
