Feedmark’s quality control in the spotlight at Regional Dressage Championships

The Le Mieux National Dressage Championships are under way and we’re excited to share that our own Feedmark’s Fandango is competing this weekend.

Having competed at the Bury Farm Regional Dressage Championships in July, Feedmark’s commitment to the Clean Sport initiative was put to the test when Fandango was randomly selected for the FEI Anti-Doping test.

“After the huge relief of finishing a test we were very pleased with, we were whisked away to the holding stable.” explains Rebecca Townsend, Feedmark’s Equine Director who was competing on Fandango that day.

“Of course we were only too happy to participate because it’s vital to keep the sport clean for horse welfare and fairness. However Feedmark’s Fandango was not quite so cooperative and refused to urinate(!), so her bloods were taken, barcoded, sealed and signed for.

“The officials were very efficient and professional; albeit the process was quite nerve wracking. Thankfully we had complete confidence in our feeds and in Feedmark, knowing that all our ingredients are tested for NOPS and are UFAS assured. Feedmark’s Fandango has her Bespoke All-In-One supplement and Calming Treats every day.

“Two weeks later we had confirmation that the test was negative and we were off to the LeMieux National Dressage Championships!”

The FEI's Clean Sport initiative aims to produce a detailed approach to clean sport as well as incorporating World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) principles. The use of substances with the potential to affect equine performance, health or welfare and/or with a high potential for misuse are contrary to the integrity of equestrian sport and the welfare of horses (Source: FEI.org)
